Bullseye Studio’s work with the artist Jessica Jackson Hutchins began when she was selected for a winter 2017 residency at our fabrication studio in Portland, OR.
Though new to glass, Hutchins’ inquiries and experiments in the new material, along with the methodologies she developed, led her to extend her work with us by an additional six weeks in order to realize two fine art installations:
- Reason to Be, a summer outdoor installation for the Seattle Art Fair made of a repurposed TriMet bus shelter and kiln-glass (above photo).
- The People’s Cries, a Nov/Dec 2017 exhibition at the Marianne Boesky Gallery in New York. The People’s Cries features 80 linear feet of 2′-wide kiln-glass panels temporarily placed in gallery skylights.
During Hutchins’ time with Bullseye Studio, she fabricated the work herself using our materials and kilns, while our team offered training and consultation.
Oregon Public Broadcasting featured the artist, and her experience working with Bullseye Glass Company: Oregon Art Beat.
