We are excited to share that the capstones turned out beautifully! If you’re in southwest Portland, visit the newly redeveloped Willamette Park and look for the 6′ tall entrance gabions made by Steel + Timber. Designed by the landscape architecture firm of Mayer/Reed, each gabion features a glass capstone handcrafted by the fabricators at Bullseye Studio.
The capstones are made of clear and blue glasses fused together to reach the 24” x 24” x 4-9/16” dimension of each component. The waves and bubbles are reminiscent of clear and refreshing waters. During the day each glass block casts gorgeous color onto the river stones held in the gabion.
Make sure to stop and enjoy the glass work on your next ride or walk through the park!
