Design Week Portland Open House

April 11, 2019

Preview Monumental Public Art Up Close + Explore the Concept Library

We hope you will join us on Thursday, April 11, from 4-7pm for a Design Week Portland Open House at Bullseye Glass Co. As a highlight of this company-wide event, ongoing fabrication of Lynn Basa’s artwork for the new Multnomah County Central Courthouse (designed by SRG Partnership / CGL Ricci Greene) will be on display.

Bullseye Studio welcomes architects, artists, developers, and designers to the fabrication studio for an up-close-and-personal view of Basa’s Regional Arts & Culture Council-commissioned piece.

When installed in 2020, the bottom of the 25′ x 71’ artwork (made of 120 5’ x 3’ panels) will be 14’ above the lobby floor. Our Open House, however, offers visitors the chance to observe the project within arm’s reach. In addition to this preview’s cultural and technical appeal, it will provide interested professionals with a unique visual frame of reference for how glasswork translates at such size and distance.

This project is funded by Multnomah County Percent for Art and managed by the Regional Arts & Culture Council.

Please RSVP here, join us for light refreshments, and take advantage of this special opportunity!

GRAND OPENING

Introducing the Bullseye Studio Concept Library

This Design Week Portland Open House will also mark the grand opening of the Bullseye Studio Concept Library. After years of requests to see, touch, and better understand our fabrication work, we are establishing a designated space for sharing the many diverse samples, designs, prototypes, and collaborative projects in our portfolio.

We envision the space serving as something of a tactile library, inspiring artists and designers with the possibilities available to them through kiln-glass, as well as the fabrication breadth and expertise of Bullseye Studio.

Current displays will offer hands-on access to intriguing examples of our work with:

  • Artists
  • Public Art
  • Architectural Elements
  • Products designed by Bullseye Studio

We look forward to seeing you at the launch of this exciting new space. You can RSVP at Eventbrite.

In case all the above wasn’t enough…

…during the Open House visitors will have the chance to:

  • Discover the capabilities of our Bottero glass cutter, our 5-axis CNC Workstation (a machining, grinding, sawing, milling, drilling dynamo), and our one-of-a-kind large format kiln (a.k.a., “the Toro”)—able to fabricate monolithic pieces of up to 10’ x 4′
  • Learn about educational opportunities at Bullseye
  • Enjoy refreshments and hands-on activities in the Bullseye Resource Center

And as always…

Bullseye Studio team members will be on hand at the Open House to answer any questions about the Studio’s work and fabrication capabilities. And if you are seeking new perspective on a design challenge or a blue-sky idea, the team would be more than happy to discuss it with you.

We hope to see you at the Open House!
